Archie Goodwin was an American comic book writer and editor. He was the editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics in the 1970s. At Marvel he wrote material for the Star Wars comic strip and helped set up the studio's first creator-owned imprints Epic Illustrated and Epic Comics. He eventually went on to also write and edit for DC Comics. In 1993 he received the Best Editor award by the Eisners. He is often viewed as one of the greatest editors and writers in modern comics. Goodwin died in 1998 after a 10 year battle with cancer.
