Drew Friedman

Drew Friedman began his artistic training at the School of Visual Arts in 1977, where his teachers would include Harvey Kurtzman, Will Eisner, Art Spiegelman, Stan Mack, Nick Meglin, and Arnold Roth.

His work has appeared in Raw, Weirdo, Heavy Metal, National Lampoon, Spy, the New York Observer, and many other publications that no longer exist.

Friedman is married to K. Bidus, and they live in an undisclosed location in Pennsylvania.

A documentary about his life and work, Vermeer of the Borscht Belt, from director Kevin Dougherty, is in the works.

"Friedman is one of the best cartoonists/caricaturists going, whose renderings seethe with the panoply of feelings their personae stir in so many breasts: affection, repulsion, caution, fear, sadness, disdain, and admiration (maybe)." — Booklist

"Needless to say, he is brilliantly talented." — Paul Shaffer
