Erik Kriek (Amsterdam, 1966) is best known in his native Holland for the wordless adventures of faux-superhero Gutsman and his girlfriend Tigra. His 2012 publication Het Onzienbare (From Beyond), a selection of adaptations of stories by H.P Lovecraft, introduced his name to an international audience.
Aside from making comics, Kriek is a prolific illustrator, working for a variety of national and international media, magazines and newspapers. He has also recently started illustrating children’s books, taking his work into hitherto uncharted territories.
Erik Kriek lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, together with his wife Stans and their son, Clovis.
