Nina Bunjavec (b. 1973) has had her comics published in a number of international periodicals and anthologies, including The National Post, Le Monde, and Best American Comics. Her first book Heartless (2012, Conundrum Press) won the Doug Wright Award for Best Debut. Her second book, Fatherland (2014, Jonathan Cape) received international acclaim, appearing on the New York Times best-seller list and receiving the Doug Wright Award for Best Book. Her artwork has been included in a number of international exhibitions, most notably her 2014–15 installation “Nina Bunjavec: Out of The Fatherland” at The Art Gallery of Ontario and the 2016 “Comix Creatrix,” an exhibition of art by women comics creators at The House of Illustration in London. She lives in Toronto where she divides her time between comics, illustration, teaching, and fine arts.
