R. Kikuo Johnson (b. 1981, Maui) studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. His comics and drawings have appeared in publications including The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The New York Times. His debut graphic novel, Night Fisher, a coming of age tale set in the suburbs of Hawaii, was released in the fall of 2005 to wide acclaim. In 2006, the book earned Johnson two of comics' most prestigious awards: a Harvey Award in the "Best New Talent" category as well as the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
