Will Elder

Will Elder (1921–2008) attended the High School of Music & Art with classmates Harvey Kurtzman and Al Jaffee, where he developed a reputation as a prankster. He also served in World War II and drew comics and illustrations for many venues. His star was largely hitched to Harvey Kurtzman’s: he was a Mad lynchpin, followed Kurtzman to Trump, was a partner in Humbug, and drew the Kurtzman-scripted Goodman Beaver (for Help!) and Little Annie Fanny, which ran in Playboy for nearly three decades. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2003.
