John Tinney McCutcheon (1870 – 1949) was an American cartoonist who influenced an entire school of cartoonists – The Midwestern School as it came to be known. Based in Chicago, McCutcheon was a noted political cartoonist; and his Bird Center and Boy in Springtime homely themes of social cartoons inspired Clare Briggs, Frank King, Gaar Williams, Fontaine Fox, and many other cartoonists.
