Gahan Wilson

Gahan Wilson was born in 1930 in Evanston, IL and lives in Sag Harbor, New York.

“Morbid merriment. Tender cruelties. Risible frailties. Sincere hypocrisies. Of such oxymorons is the art of famed cartoonist Gahan Wilson made. Ever since the ’50s, Wilson has proudly carried aloft the moldering, web-festooned banner first hoisted by Charles Addams.” – Paul De Filippo, The Washington Post

"Gahan Wilson is the poster child for disenfranchised children." – Guillermo del Toro

"Wilson’s misshapen mind’s eye, in which every figure and prop and setting looks like it’s made of the same stuff as those watches by Dalí, has remained unblinking and interested to this day. … Wilson was the antithesis of the one-panel, one-gag cartoonist he appeared to be... Whole dystopian novels detached from their illustrations were sensed in [his] cartoons." – Adam McGovern, HiLobrow
