Leo Putz (1869 1940) was an Austrian (Tyrolean) painter and illustrator whose career in art spanned the Impressionist to Expressionist. As a graphic artist he was active in the Secessionist movements in both Vienna and Munich and he was a leading figure in Art Nouveau, which in Germany was called Jugenstil, its name connected with the magazine whose pages he filled with his striking paintings, Jugend.
