Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Son of the Sun Photoset Preview
Written by Sonia Lei | Filed under new releasesDon RosaDisney 25 Aug 2014 12:33 PM

“Great howling crashwagons!” The Richest Duck in the World is back — and so are noisy nephew Donald, wunderkinder Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and rascally richnik Flintheart Glomgold! Because you asked for it, we’re proud to present our first complete, chronological book of Duck adventures by contemporary fan favorite Don Rosa — following in the footsteps of Disney legend Carl Barks with an exciting, lovingly detailed visual style all his own! Rosa, among the world’s most beloved modern cartoonists, launched his Barksian career in 1987. Famed for his prizewinning “Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck,” Rosa wrote and drew a whopping two decades’ worth of ripping Scrooge and Donald yarns! Presented with sparkling color and “extras,” these Duckburg epics are getting a definitive, comprehensive North American edition for the very first time — at a price even Scrooge would consider a bargain!

Snoopy's Thanksgiving by Charles M. Schulz - Video/Photo Slideshow

Snoopy's Thanksgiving
by Charles M. Schulz

64-page color 5.75" x 5.75" hardcover • $9.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-778-9

Ships in: October 2014 (subject to change) — Pre-Order Now

Sometimes getting together with friends and family for Thanksgiving isn't all that it's cracked up to be, as Snoopy learns when his brother Spike invites him to spend Thanksgiving in the desert, and things don't quite work out as planned. At least it's a change of pace for Snoopy, who spends most Thanksgivings with the ol' supper dish (and one lonely one at the malt shoppe as Joe Cool). It's also a tense time of year to be a bird who’s afraid of being mistaken for a turkey and roasted, and Woodstock copes with his anxieties in various ways, including by donning a disguise with Snoopy's help. Meanwhile, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Franklin all get sick over their Thanksgiving vacation. Snoopy's Thanksgiving is the perfect gift book for anyone whose idea of the holiday is more Charlie Brown than Norman Rockwell.

The Lonesome Go by Tim Lane - Video/Photo Slideshow

The Lonesome Go
by Tim Lane

296-page color 8" x 10.75" softcover • $39.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-754-3

Ships in: October 2014 (subject to change) — Pre-Order Now

Tim Lane continues his exploration of the Great American Mythological Drama that began with his first book, the critically acclaimed Abandoned Cars. This collection of stories is broadly linked together by the experience of wandering — both literally and figuratively. With compelling verisimilitude, the lives of his characters are depicted by way of rich mixtures of obscure myths and documented facts, dreams and reality, belief and disbelief, throughout a haunted landscape populated by the ghosts of a complex and rich fictional tapestry. You'll witness a young man's dubious quest to discover the myth of the protagonist from an obscure vintage comic strip; encounter sociopathic hobos in boxcars and misled young men whose facial pores sprout worms and who throw up babies into gas station toilets; visit modern "Hoovervilles"; and experience the life and death of an undocumented immigrant bookstore doorman, former boxer, and expert hustler.

Doctors by Dash Shaw - Video/Photo Slideshow

Doctors
by Dash Shaw

96-page color 6" x 8" hardcover • $16.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-803-8

Ships in: October 2014 (subject to change) — Pre-Order Now

This new graphic novel from acclaimed cartoonist Dash Shaw (Bottomless Belly Button, BodyWorld, New School) is his most taut book to date. Dr. Cho is the creator of the Charon, a device that allows his staff to enter a dead patient's afterlife by taking the form of a memory in the patient's consciousness, and bring him or her back to life, with one catch: the experience is traumatic and the process kills them again soon thereafter. But for some bereaved, the opportunity is priceless. So when Bell is killed in a random accident, her daughter hires Dr. Cho's team to bring her back. But what if Bell didn't want to come back? The dying unconsciously create the afterlife they want, or feel they deserve, in their minds before everything fades to black. Isn't that better than the reality, and no less meaningful than life itself? Can unconsciousness coexist with consciousness? Part science-fiction thriller, part family drama, part morality play for the 21st century, and quite possibly Shaw's best book to date.

In a Glass Grotesquely by Richard Sala - First Look

In a Glass Grotesquely by Richard Sala - Cover

In a Glass Grotesquely by Richard Sala - Inside Page

Nothing kills one's mood for golf like news of one's children being eaten alive. And by man-eating plants, no less! Keep your loved ones close; Super-Enigmatix is as cold and ruthless as he is cunning, and who knows where he may choose to strike next.

In a Glass Grotesquely collects selected picture stories by Richard Sala, and it is with deep trepidation that we take this first look.

And yet, once open, this book is nigh impossible to put down. Sala's lush, watercolored panels are eye-catchingly beautiful, and his sharp, dark humor is delightfully sinister. We'll have more previews in the next few weeks, before its anticipated November release, and our presale is up—if you dare.

Hip Hop Family tree 2
Hometown hero, Ed Piskor, is coming back atcha with the release of Hip Hop Family Tree Vol. 2 at 7pm on Saturday, September 23rd. At this release party at Copacetic Comics, you may need to bring the bucks but never the beats.

Book 2 covers the early years of 1981-1983, when Hip Hop has made a big transition from the parks and rec rooms to downtown clubs and vinyl records. As meticulously documented in Piskor's panels, the performers make moves to separate themselves from the paying customers by dressing more and more flamboyantly until a young group called RUN-DMC comes on the scene to take things back to the streets. So party people gather 'round and count down to this sweet release party this Saturday!
