BETTER LATE: Sandy Egg-O! part five
Written by Jason Miles | Filed under comics industrybehind the scene 20 Mar 2009 1:31 PM

And this is what Comic-Con looks like after all the fans, cartoonists and celebrities have left for home.  Union guys are farting and shouting at us to hurry up and ship out so they can get their drink on. It's a blessed life (I mean that).

This Flog is dedicated to the workers.

Jamie Salomon of Drawn & Quarterly. This guy's taken a bullet for comics.

Alvin Buenaventura of Buenaventura Press puts the finishing touches on pallet.

Tom Devlin and Rebecca Rosen of Drawn & Quarterly pack up while sporting Canadian Plaid. (Please note formula: Northwesterner/Me = Plaid/Flannel Connoisseur)

Excelsior!

Humbug

Humbug debuts at #6 on The New York Times "Graphic Books Best Seller List (Hardcover)" for the week ending March 14 (published today). The Complete Peanuts 1971-1972 (Vol. 11) falls from #5 to #10.

We are, of course, most pleased.

Social networking notes

Hey, we just re-kajiggered our MySpace profile to upgrade to their "Profile 2.0" format -- we might continue tweaking it a bit, but go ahead and check it on out if you're so inclined.

Also: we helped Ted Stearn set up an official page for Fuzz & Pluck on Facebook -- become a fan!

Better Late: Unlovable party
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under videoFantagraphics BookstoreeventsEsther Pearl Watson 19 Mar 2009 2:00 PM

In the spirit of Jason's recent SDCC 2008 reports (but not quite that tardy), here are the photos and video of the gallery opening and book launch party for Esther Pearl Watson's Unlovable at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery in Seattle back on February 7, 2009. If you or your reader don't like embedded slideshows, click here to browse the photos.

Below, Rusty Willoughby (Llama, ex-Pure Joy, ex-Flop) serenades the crowd. I recorded every song but the first one; click here for the YouTube playlist if the embedded player isn't visible. And stay tuned for photos and video from the Humbug exhibit and Dame Darcy's performance last weekend.
