This weekend, Nov. 8, the great Galerie Lambiek turns 40. As far as I know, Lambiek is the oldest comic book shop in the world, and it's also quite probably the very best. I've had the good fortune of visiting twice and it's a true oasis of cartooning, almost like something out of a dream. Happy birthday, Lambiek, and here's to 40 more!

Remember that fantastic David B. show that was up in our gallery earlier this summer that you missed? Well, if you are anywhere near New Orleans, you'll have another chance. Throughout the month of November, LSU Museum of Art, in conjunction with the College of Art and Design, is presenting David B.'s "My Story / My Stories", featuring over 20 original pages of comic art from the acclaimed author of Epileptic throughout the month of November.
David B. will visit LSU and New Orleans in mid-November in conjunction with the exhibit, featuring over 20 pages from Epileptic, MOME, and more. The author and artist will appear at the museum Thursday evening, November 13 from 6 - 8pm.
David B.: My Story / My Stories was originally curated by Cynthia Rose & Kim Thompson for the Alliance Française de Seattle, Fantagraphics Books and 4Culture of King County. David B. and his exhibition have been brought to Baton Rouge through the support of the Book Office of the French Embassy and the French Consulate in New Orleans.
Thank you Boing Boing for this link to Lee Dorsey's inspirational R&B hit "Yes We Can" perfectly remixed with the oratory of Mr. Barack Obama. What if the derailed idealism of the 1960s could be put back on track and into public office? What if rhetoric wasn't just impressive but sincere and we didn't guard ourselves against it? What if leaders could be as smart and compassionate as you and I, not just serpents going lower than we're willing to? There's nothing wrong with well-placed HOPE. Please vote Tuesday. Even here at Fantagraphics some of us are really excited about-- of all things-- the next President of the United States.
While you sharpen your chad puncher, we now return you to comics.
