Join Kupperman and kompany at Luca Bar in the East Village [ Ave. B & 13th St ], starting at 7:00 PM. He'll be giving a presentation of the new strip "Quincy, M.E." which is making its debut in Tales Designed to Thrizzle #7 (in stores this November).
Kupperman tells us, he will also be dissecting the late-70's TV show, Quincy, starring Jack Klugman, and the Quincy episode "Snake Eyes" (Season 2 Episode 1), which he says he was forced to watch as research.
Also appearing will be Onion editor Joe Randazzo and New Yorker cartoonist Emily Flake -- clearly, it'll be a night to remember! Don't miss it!
Remember that documentary that Eric was talking about last week, featuring interviews with Dan Clowes and Ivan Brunetti?
Well, I just got word from our friends at the Northwest Film Forum here in Seattle that it's screening there through September 29th! Holy crap, go see it.
WOW! From all the reports we've been seeing online, it sounds like Drew Friedman's book party at the legendary Friars' Club was a legend in its own right! Thanks to everyone who came out for the event, and thanks so much to The Friars Club for hosting the release party for Even More Old Jewish Comedians!
[ All photos courtesy of Drew Friedman's blog! ]
Just look at that line outside The Friars Club! The event was packed!
As the NY Daily News reports, Friedman pointed to Stone and said, "How could I not put that face on the cover of the book. I know what sells!"
It may be Stewie Stone's mug on the cover, but on the back of the book, there's a blurb from comedian Gilbert Gottfried! Doesn't he look thrilled about it!?
And speaking of "handsome," look, it's Abe Vigoda!
There are tons more wonderful photos to check out at Drew Friedman's blog, and over at the New York Photoscene blog! (No wonder Drew draws these guys! Such great expressions!) Get yourself a copy of Even More Old Jewish Comedians today!
The event starts at 7:00 PM, and the staff promises "boozy beverages" will be in supply. I'll bet Leslie will also have a supply of her latest comic, Eye of the Majestic Creature #5! It's a beaut!
Secret Headquarters is located at 3817 W. Sunset Blvd. Don't miss this rare West Coast appearance from this Brooklyn-based artist!
Kim Thompson's wife Lynn Emmert went to SPX and came back with a mini photo gallery. Kim wrote the captions.

6:00 PM // Drawing Inspiration: The Secrets of Comics Creativity
Sunday, October 2nd

[ Please note: this is a severely truncated map, just to give you an idea where you can find us! The Concourse Exhibition Center is too wide to fit on the FLOG, so check out a PDF map here. ]
So, get ready for another exciting APE and stay tuned to the FLOG for more details, including our signing schedule and list of debuts!
Get your own copy of this historically accurate print on Thursday, October 13th, at the book release party for Mark Twain's Autobiography 1910-2010. Store owner Gabriel Fowler notes that if there are any prints leftover at the end of the night (unlikely!), they'll be available online.
UPDATE: Corrected with updated date and time!
The Northwest tour for Taking Punk to the Masses: From Nowhere to Nevermind has been hitting some pretty rockin' places, from record stores to college bookstores, but tomorrow's event is totally classy!
Join EMP curator/editor Jacob McMurray on Wednesday, September 28th at the Pan Pacific Hotel in downtown Seattle for a reading and discussion of the "grunge" era in a completely non-grunge-y locale!
Wanna find out more reasons why Washington State is a cool place to live? Why not visit Seattle? If you book a room at the Pan Pacific Hotel in the "Nirvana Room Package," you'll get a signed copy of Taking Punk to the Masses: From Nowhere to Nevermind, as well as passes to the EMP exhibit! Note: do not treat your hotel room like a rock star.
