In these first nine pages of Tony Millionaire and Matt Danner's upcoming Sock Monkey book, Sock Monkey: Into the Deep Woods, Uncle Gabby appears to be dreaming about how he came to be a sock monkey living in the house of Ann-Louise. In a shifting dreamscape perspective, he gooes from a monkey with a toothache, to a fallen monkey's tooth next to an orchid, to a freshly-sewn sock monkey with a hidden monkey's tooth embedded in its breast pocket, beginning to flicker to life.
You can download and read the whole 9-page, 1 MB excerpt here, and check out our book listing page for more previews and to pre-order your copy! Sock Monkey: Into the Deep Woods comes out in October.
A year following their collaboration on the critically acclaimed biography 7 Miles A Second, Marguerite Van Cook and James Romberger are back with The Late Child and Other Animals. This autobiographical work follows the story of Van Cook's mother, Hetty, through World War II, the loss of her husband, the adoption of her first daughter, and then the birth of Marguerite as a bastard child.

A suite of related short mysteries and thrills, all depicted in Sala's trademark colorful watercolor washes and sharp, detailed line-work. Rising from the crumbling pages of some forgotten (and nonexistent) pulp magazine comes the diabolical villain Super-Enigmatix. Following in the bloody footsteps of master criminals such as Fantomas, Fu Manchu, or Professor Moriarty, Super-Enigmatix is ruthless, cunning, and thoroughly evil. His only goal is to spread fear and cause chaos — but does he want to destroy civilization, or save it? Not even his loyal army of female commandos can guess his real motives, or his true identity. Will he fall at the hands of the unhinged music professor turned homicidal fiend who calls himself Phantasmiac? Or Quadrummando, the Undead Shaman? And who is the Cardinal?
Two scantily-dressed twin girls explore the shabby, labyrinthic Victorian mansion that appears to be their home, making mischief with the house's other denizens and prying deep into the myriad mysteries that seem to occupy every crook and nanny of this strange building.
Stay tuned for upcoming previews for this haunting, surreal book. We're almost-but-not-quite ready to start taking pre-orders, but will let you know as soon as the presale goes up.
Hot on the tail of our first, recently released Don Rosa Library book, here is the cover for Volume 2: Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: Return to Plain Awful, filled with another dozen or so tales spun by the great Don Rosa. In the titular story—and a direct nod to Carl Barks's Lost in the Andes—Rosa takes us back to the angular world of Plain Awful, where square chickens hatch square eggs, and round objects are the single worst sacrilege imaginable.
Pre-order the book now for a November delivery, and stay tuned for more previews to come!
