Take a first look at The Pixilated Parrot , the latest volume of Carl Barks' clever cartoons. When Donald gives Uncle Scrooge a parrot for his birthday, hijinks quickly ensue as the feathered troublemaker escapes—with the combination to Scrooge's vault! Donald and his nephews set out to recover the bird—an adventure that will take them on a most unexpected journey to the far reaches of the globe. This handsome volume also contains one of Barks' finest stories—Vacation Time (it has its own Wikipedia entry )—about a wilderness outing gone awry.

Walt Disney's Donald Duck: "The Pixilated Parrot " (The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol.9) will hit shelves in May but is available for pre-order now. This book will be a perfect backseat companion for family road trips this summer— though we hope your travels will involve less mischief!

Zombies, lions, and Nazis... Oh my! The seventh volume of our Eisner Award-winning Mickey Mouse series, March of the Zombies, has all of that and more. Under Disney artist Floyd Gottfredson's capable pen, Mickey must prevail against evil scientists, the Axis powers, and... the consequences of Goofy's impulsive decision-making.

These ever-delightful tales are as entertaining to read today as they were when Gottfredson began the fledgling strip in 1930, and our exquisite packaging of these strips means you'll be able to enjoy them for years to come.

March of the Zombies is due to arrive at bookstores this May, but you can get in your pre-order today

Walt Disney's Donald Duck: The Pixilated Parrot (The Complete Carl Barks Library Vol. 9) - Excerpt

Huey, Dewey, and Louie think they've scored a great deal when they buy a talking parrot off a sailor for only a dime, but this parrot seems only interested in counting bananas! Then, to top it off, they lose their parrot to Donald, who gives him to an ungrateful Uncle Scrooge as a birthday present. ("Ten cents a month for crackers he'll cost me!")

Our latest volume in the critically acclaimed The Complete Carl Barks Library series is as full of laughs, wit, and Barks' beautifully penned panels as ever, beginning with the story of the same title, "The Pixilated Parrot." Take a gander at our 18-page downloadable excerpt here, then head on over to the book page to place your pre-order. Don't delay in adding this to your collection of the Good Duck Artist's work!

The Pixilated Parrot is due out in stores this May.

March Booklist Reviews
Written by Jen Vaughn | Filed under Wallace WoodOCDLucy KnisleyJaime HernandezGreg SadowskiGilbert HernandezDisneyDaily OCDCarl BarksBasil Wolverton 18 Mar 2015 2:16 PM

Next month's issue of Booklist will include reviews of recent releases by Fantagraphics cartoonists + creators, excerpted below:

Displacement
A Starred review for Displacement by Lucy Knisley
"Knisley finds both the humor and the sadness in her grandparents' condition...Whereas Knisley's previous travel memoirs speak more to the young adult experience, Displacement is a timely and mature work that pairs perfectly with other elder-care titles, such as Roz Chast's Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant? (2014)." –Snow Wildsmith

Love and Rockets 7
Love and Rockets: New Stories #7 by Jaime Hernandez & Gilbert Hernandez
"Jaime's economically elegant cartooning and Gilbert's bold designs and imaginative characterizations-will leave fans satisfied and eager for next year's installment." –Gordon Flagg

creeping
Creeping Death from Neptune
by Basil Wolverton, edit by Greg Sadowski
"Wolverton was a genre unto himself..No matter what he drew-science fiction, costumed crime fighters, or wacky humor-his distinctively iconoclastic style, marked by blocky compositions and idiosyncratic stippling, set it far apart from anything else." –Gordon Flagg

Seven cities
Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge: The Seven Cities of Gold by Carl Barks
"Barks' flair for combining humor with thrills is unmatched, as are his clear, expressive cartooning and his command of visual storytelling. The full-color restoration of the artwork and the useful historical notes give Barks' consummate work the deluxe presentation it richly deserves." –Gordon Flagg

Spawn of Mars
Spawn of Mars and Other Stories by Al Feldstein & Wallace Wood
"Wood's detail-laden panels, vibrant brushwork, and chiaroscuro lighting effects gave his stories a verisimilitude that the primitive cinematic special effects of the era sorely lacked...While the stories might be best enjoyed by a precocious 12-year-old, it takes an adult reader to fully appreciate Wood's astonishing craft." –Gordon Flagg
