Ellen Forney reveals more of her Sound Transit station public art proposal on her blog. I really like the way she's designed her horizontal mural to relate to the other artist's proposed installation.
More Flog! Photo Friday, this time with audio! Last night at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, moderator Gary Groth was joined by Peter Bagge, Ellen Forney, and Jim Woodring for a lively discussion about Robert Crumb and a range of related topics. More photos can be seen on Flickr, in regular and slideshow styles.
Plus! Download the complete audio of this event (24.5 MB MP3). It's a bit low-fi, but mostly intelligible. (We are still working on bringing you a full-fledged podcast... stay tuned for that.) We've also archived this feature on our website at this page.
Seattle residents can look forward to some public art by Ellen Forney. Sez Ellen:
I'll be doing the public art for the Sound Transit tunnel from the west entrance by SCCC under Broadway, to the station. Yay! I'm not sure what art I'm going to do yet (Big Fuckin' Hands or naked ladies might not pass through the committee processes) but I'll come up with something with my signature feel-good flair. (Here is a "sample of my public work," courtesy of Photoshop.)

Ellen Forney's follow-up to her wildly popular I Love Led Zeppelin is a collection of cartoons celebrating the sometimes stunningly crude, sometimes surprisingly sweet online world of kinky personal classifieds. Forney has for several years been illustrating the Seattle alt-weekly The Stranger's "Lustlab" classified ads by interpreting the most interesting, outrageous, or idiosyncratic ad in that week's paper. To cap it off, the collection includes frank, revealing interviews with some of the advertisers conducted by Forney, plus an introduction by the notorious sex advice columnist and novelist (and Stranger editor), Dan Savage.
"Alternately clever and goofy, Lust is a fantastic voyage into the nether regions of human desire. A-" - Entertainment Weekly
"Whether you're a true kinkster or a part-time voyeur who occasionally skims online personals, it's hard to tear yourself away from Lust... No matter who - or what - your yen, Lust is worth a peep." - Readymade
"Give your partner a copy of Ellen Forney's Lust... It's a great way to open the door for discussing different kinks you might be interested in exploring." - Fleshbot
Join Ellen for a multimedia reading and performance next Thursday!
