Ellen Forney Sound Transit mural proposal

Ellen Forney reveals more of her Sound Transit station public art proposal on her blog. I really like the way she's designed her horizontal mural to relate to the other artist's proposed installation.

This weekend is the big Emerald City Con in Seattle, and we'll be hosting signings with Jordan Crane (all day Sat. & Sun), Peter Bagge (Sat. 1PM) and Ellen Forney (Sunday at noon). We'll also have new books like Bottomless Belly ButtonExplainersRebel VisionsMost OutrageousAmor Y Cohetes and Mome 11. But, if you do one thing this weekend, do this, it's gonna be fun and the Jordan Crane art is fantastic and goes well with beer:

Comics Forum, R. Crumb's Underground, Frye Museum, 03/27/08

More Flog! Photo Friday, this time with audio! Last night at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, moderator Gary Groth was joined by Peter Bagge, Ellen Forney, and Jim Woodring for a lively discussion about Robert Crumb and a range of related topics. More photos can be seen on Flickr, in regular and slideshow styles.

Plus! Download the complete audio of this event (24.5 MB MP3). It's a bit low-fi, but mostly intelligible. (We are still working on bringing you a full-fledged podcast... stay tuned for that.) We've also archived this feature on our website at this page.

Cartoons against cars
Written by Eric Reynolds | Filed under Ellen Forney 26 Mar 2008 8:36 AM

Ellen Forney is producing a new cartoon series for the Bellevue Transportation Department to promote alternative options to cars. Readers write in with their crazy!whimsical! ways to get around, and every other week, Forney makes a cartoon out of one of them.

Want her to draw your idea? Write in!

Ellen Forney, transit artist
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under Ellen Forney 19 Mar 2008 9:57 PM

Seattle residents can look forward to some public art by Ellen Forney. Sez Ellen:

I'll be doing the public art for the Sound Transit tunnel from the west entrance by SCCC under Broadway, to the station. Yay! I'm not sure what art I'm going to do yet (Big Fuckin' Hands or naked ladies might not pass through the committee processes) but I'll come up with something with my signature feel-good flair. (Here is a "sample of my public work," courtesy of Photoshop.)

LUST: Kinky Online Personal Ads from Seattle's The Stranger
By Ellen Forney

Multimedia reading and performance
Plus! Dazzling dancer Fuschia FoXXX! (Voted one of the Stranger's "Sexiest Citizens"!) Scantily-clad boy AND girl sirens, including Holly Chernobyl! (Also voted one of the Stranger's "Sexiest Citizens"!) Chocolate kisses! More!!

Thursday, February 28, 7pm

Ellen Forney's follow-up to her wildly popular I Love Led Zeppelin is a collection of cartoons celebrating the sometimes stunningly crude, sometimes surprisingly sweet online world of kinky personal classifieds. Forney has for several years been illustrating the Seattle alt-weekly The Stranger's "Lustlab" classified ads by interpreting the most interesting, outrageous, or idiosyncratic ad in that week's paper. To cap it off, the collection includes frank, revealing interviews with some of the advertisers conducted by Forney, plus an introduction by the notorious sex advice columnist and novelist (and Stranger editor), Dan Savage.

"Alternately clever and goofy, Lust is a fantastic voyage into the nether regions of human desire. A-" - Entertainment Weekly

"Whether you're a true kinkster or a part-time voyeur who occasionally skims online personals, it's hard to tear yourself away from Lust... No matter who - or what - your yen, Lust is worth a peep." - Readymade

"Give your partner a copy of Ellen Forney's Lust... It's a great way to open the door for discussing different kinks you might be interested in exploring." - Fleshbot
