Buddy Buys a Dump
Buddy Buys a Dump: The Complete Buddy Bradley Stories from "Hate" Comics Vol. 3
by Peter Bagge

144-page full-color 6" x 9" softcover • $19.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-745-1

"Pete Bagge created a generational icon who I grew up with, and continued to grow up with even after I was a grown up. This book collects the last thirteen years of Buddy's life - and keeping up with him is like keeping up with an old pal from college who, while you still don't see them as often, you still miss dearly, and are always surprised at how much your life and theirs still overlap." -Benn Ray, Atomic Books

"[Buddy Bradley] attacks modern, and more adult-oriented, social trends-MILFs, recessions, mortality-with the same critical skill and wit he brought to the grunge era. For those of us who've accepted these stories piecemeal over the past dozen years, it's nice to seem them joined together." –Christopher Arnott, Below the Fold

The Love Bunglers
The Love Bunglers
by Jaime Hernandez

112-page black & white 9" x 11.25" hardcover • $19.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-729-1

"...it's maybe the best comic I've read all decade...A beautiful, humane, masterfully executed comic." –Tom Spurgeon, Comics Reporter

"Being a collected edition of Jaime Hernandez's hugely-appreciated climax-of-sorts to his ongoing chronicles of erstwhile romantics Maggie and Ray...IT'S THE SEASON FINALE OF LOVE AND ROCKETS." –Joe McCulloch, The Comics Journal

"Love Bunglers is the comics medium perfected." –Benn Ray, Atomic Books
Unlovable 3
Unlovable 3
by Esther Pearl Watson

412-page two-color 5.75" x 5.75" hardcover • $29.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-737-6

"This is a must read for all Tina Belcher fans. This is also a must read for anyone who likes fun!" –Forbidden Planet USA

"Esther Pearl Watson has built up a nice following for these teenage comedy/agony vignettes, counting Matt Groening and Pendleton Ward among their admirers.…Lots of visceral drawing in here, all up in everyone's face." -Joe McCulloch, The Comics Journal
EC Slipcase
The EC Comics Slipcase Vol. 1
by Harvey KurtzmanWallace WoodJack DavisAl WilliamsonAl Feldstein et al.

832-page four-volume hardcover 7.5" x 10.5" x 4" slipcased box set • $94.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-728-4

"I'm kind of hooked on the black and white author-oriented Fantagraphics volumes because they force me to reconsider artists that I power past when they're collected in a format resembling the original comics..."  –Tom Spurgeon, Comics Reporter

Steve Brodner Delivers Jack Davis Lecture at UGA!
Written by janice headley | Filed under Steve BrodnerJack Davisevents 17 Mar 2014 10:30 AM

The annual Jack Davis Distinguished Visiting Artist Lecture will be held this week, and noneother than savage editorial cartoonist/illustrator Steve Brodner will present a public lecture for the occasion!

Join Steve on Thursday, March 20th at 5:30 PM for Game of Thrones: The Political Art of Steve Brodner, at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia!

The UGA explains, "the intent of the Jack Davis Distinguished Visiting Artist program is to honor Jack and his contributions to our popular culture, and to bring outstanding professional illustrators who share in this tradition to the UGA campus for a public lecture and creative exchanges with students and faculty."

Steve adds: "It is a great honor. Not only to be asked to join fellow artists who truly appreciate the traditions of satirical journalism, but also to celebrate the great Jack Davis, who is an alum. I have met Mr. Davis and can tell you a more gentle and courtly man you could not hope to meet. As an artist he is, for me, a paragon of the kind of work that fired me up in the very beginning. If ever there was a perfect illustrator, he is it."

So, come celebrate Jack in his 90th year (!!!) in the Lamar Dodd School of Art building on the campus of the University of Georgia [ 270 River Road ] in Athens, Georgia.

EC Slipcase Vol. 1 box art

Here's a clearer view of the box art for The EC Comics Slipcase Vol. 1, coming in April, featuring the artwork of Jack DavisHarvey KurtzmanAl Williamson, and Wallace Wood on the outside and their respective EC Comics Library volumes inside. Nice, right? That's gold ink on there, as befitting the quality of the material inside and the luster of our unique and impeccable presentation.

For those of you who plan on replacing your standalone copies of each book with the box set (since we're not able to offer empty boxes), might we suggest "paying it forward" by donating your duplicate books to a good cause such as your local library, or passing them along as gifts? Share the EC love!

The printer sent us this handmade sample of our 4-volume EC Comics Slipcase Vol. 1 (which contains Corpse on the ImjinCame the Dawn50 Girls 50 and 'Tain't the Meat... It's the Humanity!) for our inspection. We caught one design error (first person to spot it gets a no-prize), which we fixed, and now the boxes are getting printed up, the sets will be assembled & shrinkwrapped, and the whole shebang will hit shelves in April. Pretty darn handsome, huh? It's a good deal, too, saving you over $20 versus buying the volumes separately and sans box. (Sorry, we're not going to be able to offer empty slipcases.) Hey, why not pre-order one for yourself or a favorite person?

Spring-Summer 2014, part 3: O say can you EC?

Judgment Day prelim cover

Judgment Day and Other Stories (The EC Comics Library)
by Joe OrlandoAl Feldstein, Ray Bradbury et al.

184-page black & white 7.25" x 10.25" hardcover • $28.99
ISBN: 978-1-60699-727-7

EC Comics LogoJoe Orlando was a mainstay at EC, especially on science fiction, and this collects 23 of his best sci-fi stories. All of them, most scripted by Al Feldstein, serve up classic O. Henry-style endings, such as “I, Robot,” and “Fallen Idol.” The title story is one of EC’s most famous, with its blunt anti-racism message. When it was printed during the era of the Comics Code, publisher Bill Gaines and Feldstein had to fight to keep the story’s final panel “reveal” (and thus its whole point) intact. It was a pyrrhic victory, however, as “Judgment Day” became the last story in the last comic book EC published. This volume also features two of Orlando’s outstanding adaptations of classic Ray Bradbury science-fiction stories: “The Long Year” and “Outcast of the Stars.” Also included are all of EC’s “Adam Link” adaptations, a series which was later adapted for The Outer Limits TV show featuring Leonard Nimoy.
