Rocky daily strips start TODAY!
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under webcomicsmetaMartin Kellerman 13 Oct 2008 2:12 PM

Rocky by Martin Kellerman

Starting today (after a slight delay due to technical difficulties) we are pleased to present Monday-Friday installments of Swedish cartoonist Martin Kellerman's smash-hit comic strip Rocky, in English for the first time anywhere (until they appear in our second Rocky collection, Rocky Vol. 2: Strictly Business)! One part Fritz the Cat, one part Seinfeld, one part Jane Austen (!), Rocky is a phenomenon in its native country, having spawned a glossy magazine and a computer-animated TV show (previously seen on Flog).

Come back to this link every weekday for a new strip; we'll keep a week's worth of strips available at all times so you can catch up if you miss a few days. (If you're eagle-eyed you might notice the occasional gap in the numerical sequence; a few of the original strips have Swedish cultural references that don't translate for non-Swedes, so we've omitted them.)

Chocolate Cheeks by Steven Weissman

Time for the twelfth installment of Steven Weissman's in-progress pages from "Blue Jay," an epic 32-page story from Chocolate Cheeks, the next collection of the Yikes! gang's adventures. In this week's episode: Oh Elzie Crisler, so cute and yet so bad!

And guess what? You no longer have to be registered and logged in to read our webcomics (though we still encourage you to sign up)! We've decided that we want to share the fun with everyone. Why now? Because starting Monday we'll be bringing you (drum roll)...

...daily (Mon.-Fri.) installments of Rocky, the hilarious smash-hit Swedish comic strip by Martin Kellerman beloved by everyone from Eurocomics über-aficionados like our own Kim Thompson to world-famous rap mega-star 50 Cent (no fooling)!

Meanwhile, if you haven't been able to read "Blue Jay" until now, you can catch up on past installments on Steven's blog. Enjoy!

Rocky onscreen!
Written by Kim Thompson | Filed under televisionMartin Kellerman 17 Jun 2008 9:55 AM

Martin Kellerman's "Rocky" is being adapted for the screen — 13 episodes of hanging out, arguing, eating, reading comics (check out Rocky's preferred reading material below), drinking coffee, listening to music, watching DVD's, playing videogames...and even indulging in the occasional bit of carnal knowledge.

No details yet on when and whether there will be an English language version (or at least subtitled episodes), but in the meantime, enjoy these rockin' stills (click them for larger versions) — and watch for Fantagraphics' Rocky Volume II this Fall!

Apparently in the alternate universe known as Sweden cartoonists are given their own glossy entertainment magazine and hang around with Fiddy and his G-Unit crew. (Photo supplied to Kim Thompson by Häkon Strand of Strand Comics.)

This seems like a good time to remind you to stay tuned for daily Rocky strips in English here on Fantagraphics.com starting in the near future!
