Dash Shaw's Unclothed Man comes to McSweeney's Wholphin DVD
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under McSweeneysDash Shawanimation 28 Mar 2011 10:20 PM

Wholphin no. 13

Excellent and welcome news: On his The Ruined Cast blog Dash Shaw announces: "The 13th volume of Wholphin, the McSweeney’s quarterly DVD anthology, will have my 2009 IFC series The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D. on it." That's artwork from the animated series in the lower quadrant on the cover there; of course, much more artwork from the series, as well as a bunch of Dash's short stories, can be found in our companion book of the same name, and the series is still available to watch at IFC.com.

Them's good comics. The issue is also the only place you'll find interviews with both Wallace Shawn and "Weird" Al Yankovic. Order it here and tell 'em we sent ya.

Jordan Crane covers McSweeney's Issue 35

McSweeney's 35 - cover by Jordan Crane

Here's another recent Jordan Crane cover illustration job, for the 35th issue of a little publication you may have heard of called McSweeney's Quarterly Concern. Apparently it's printed with temperature-sensitive color-changing "disappearing ink," leaving us wondering what's revealed by the change. (Thanks again to Jacob Covey for the tip-off.)

More Things Like This: A heck of a thing

More Things Like This

Paul Hornschemeier points out on his blog that the McSweeney's-edited More Things Like This is out; this collection of drawn-and-written humor includes Paul, Anders Nilsen, and Jeffrey Brown along with the likes of "Marcel Duchamp, Kurt Vonnegut, Edward Gorey, Henry Darger, David Mamet, David Byrne, Basquiat, Leonard Cohen, Robert Crumb, and too many others to list," as Paul puts it. Wowza.

The Legendary Jordan Crane

The no-brainer of the year: Michael Chabon covered by Jordan Crane for McSweeney's.

And, as you'll see by visiting Design:Related, it's a conceptually complex package with three diecut jackets . (Take that carbon footprint!)

God that's gorgeous artwork.
