Blake Bell is the subject of Tom Spurgeon's weekly interview feature this morning, and it might be the best (and longest) interview with Blake that I've read yet. If you like Ditko, a must read.
Our pal James DC hosts a 1 hour special round-table discussion about Strange and Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko. James talks with comic book artists Brendan McCarthy and Steve Marchant and the author of the book, Blake Bell.
The show premieres 5pm - 6pm GMT, Thursday 31st July on Resonance 104.4 FM (London) / Globally streamed at www.resonancefm.com
The show will also be available for podcast/download a few weeks after airing. Check www.resonancefm.com for more info. We'll do our best to remind you when it happens.
Blake Bell is taking readers "behind the scenes" of the production of his book, STRANGE & STRANGER: THE WORLD OF STEVE DITKO. There's a couple of interviews so far, and many more on the way - including scans of the entire notebook of Cat Yronwode's interview with Ditko's brother Pat back in 1983. Whoa!
Here's two recent podcast interviews with STRANGE & STRANGER: THE WORLD OF STEVE DITKO author Blake Bell. First up is BlogTalkRadio and second is FanboyRadio. If you like Ditko, you must listen. There are no shades of grey here.
Blake Bell, author of STRANGE & STRANGER: THE WORLD OF STEVE DITKO, will appear as a guest on the live Mr. Media podcast on BlogTalkRadio this week (Wednesday, July 2) at 1:00 p.m. EST. This was rescheduled from June due to a power outage that prevented the originally scheduled interview.
The Mr. Media podcast will be archived online, but those listening live may call in and talk to Blake and ask that long-awaited Ditko question you've never known the answer to. Call in at (646) 595-3135.
Yesterday's Los Angeles Times Book Review features Blake Bell's Strange and Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko on the cover, and Geoff Boucher's review inside says "the book is an extremely satisfying archive of the artist's work, both famous and obscure, and... it intensely documents the twists and turns of his career." Blake is keeping track of more reviews on his own website, including the "A+" the book received from Sci-Fi Magazine, who call the book "an essential tribute to one of pop culture's most essential creators."
