Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under McSweeneysDash Shawanimation 28 Mar 2011 11:20 PM

Wholphin no. 13

Excellent and welcome news: On his The Ruined Cast blog Dash Shaw announces: "The 13th volume of Wholphin, the McSweeney’s quarterly DVD anthology, will have my 2009 IFC series The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D. on it." That's artwork from the animated series in the lower quadrant on the cover there; of course, much more artwork from the series, as well as a bunch of Dash's short stories, can be found in our companion book of the same name, and the series is still available to watch at IFC.com.

It's the final episode of the season (but hopefully not the series) for the animated adventures of Steven Weissman's "Yikes!" gang! Relive all the episodes here.

Things to See: Olivier Schrauwen's Der Hipster (video)
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under videoThings to seeOlivier Schrauwenanimation 1 Feb 2011 11:54 AM

Here's video in two parts of a 2009 screening of Olivier Schrauwen's animated short film "Der Hipster" with live musical introduction and accompaniment by Bram Devens. I think there might be some cultural humor that went over my head, but there are some funny visual jokes and the punchline is really great. Via Dash Shaw at his The Ruined Cast blog.

Things to See: The Loneliest Girl in Town - A Yikes Cartoon
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under videoThings to seeSteven Weissmananimation 26 Jan 2011 1:37 PM

Another wonderful animated short from Steven Weissman and crew! It's a slightly longer one which means the return of the end credits theme song, yay.

Things to See: [Title Redacted] - A Yikes Cartoon
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under Things to seeSteven Weissmananimation 19 Jan 2011 1:24 PM

Aw man, the title of the video gives away the punchline! It's Wednesday which means it's time for another new animated Yikes! cartoon from Steven Weissman and his talent-soaked pals. I like how Li'l Bloody is singing the Casiotone demo song.

UPDATE: Ah, Steven has changed the title to a non-spoiler now!
