Comic Book Legal Defense Fund Benefit Fashion Show!
Written by janice headley | Filed under Paul Hornschemeiermerchjeffrey browngood deedsfashioneventsAnders Nilsen 13 Apr 2012 12:09 PM

Not only does the Threadless t-shirt company keep us lookin' good, but now they're also helping defend our first amendment rights with a benefit for the mighty Comic Book Legal Defense Fund!

Tonight, Friday, April 13th, they'll be hosting the CBLDF/THREADLESS C2E2 Fashion Show Welcome Party, launching a colossal new "Comics-On-Tees" collection featuring artwork by Jeffrey Brown, Anders Nilsen, Paul Hornschemeier, and Jeff Lemire, based on a story from Jeffrey!

Raffle prizes will include a plethora of awesome Threadless swag, including original retail art, and great CBLDF items, including classic signed comics, exclusive prints, and more! Giant games of Mario Kart will be projected for attendees to play, with a guest DJ providing non-stop music, getting you in the mood for a weekend of comic con revelry. There will also be a “drawing wall” for ongoing Live Art throughout the night and plenty of beer, wine, and popcorn from the famous Threadless popper.

To top it all off, THREADLESS and CBLDF will announce a major project for 2012, expanding their fundraising partnership and creating something awesome for comic fans of every stripe.

The CBLDF/THREADLESS C2E2 Fashion Show Welcome Party kicks off at 9:00 PM at The Threadless Atrium [ 1260 West Madison, Chicago ]. Free for card carrying CBLDF members, with a $20 suggested door donation for non-members. Sorry kiddoes, 21 and up only!

Cannibal Fuckshirts from Johnny Ryan!

Cannibal Fuckface t-shirt by Johnny Ryan

Since we can't walk around covered in blood like Cannibal Fuckface (well, most of us anyway), you can at least have the man himself across your chest!

It's the Prison Pit t-shirt by Johnny Ryan, from our friends at Monster Worship! Two-color design on a sinister black t-shirt. Short sleeved for your arms, or an evil worm-like creature.

In an addendum to this previous FLOG post, I had no luck tracking down the highly-sought after Johnny Ryan-designed tees from H&M. But a certain someone did, and that would be Miss Bella Reid, the 13-year-old daughter of Larry, our manager and curator at the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery! THANK YOU, BELLA!!! It's awesome!

If you don't have a pre-teen spitfire looking out for you, you can keep checking H&M stores across the country.  Or just give it up and get yourself some Johnny Ryan books instead at the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery, located at 1201 S. Vale Street in Seattle's Georgetown district. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone: (206) 658-0110.

And keep an eye out for that Bella. Girl's smart as a whip, and I'm sure you'll be hearing more from her in the years to come!

Johnny Ryan Collection for H&M!

A typical Johnny Ryan fan // photo courtesy of H&M.com

Yes, our Johnny Ryan puts the hurl and mucus in H&M with his brand-new collection for the Swedish fashion empire that is quickly sprouting up stores around the USA. (Think IKEA for clothes.)

Johnny was one of four guest artists for the Spring 2012 Divided collection, and his work can be found on two tees (seen below) and that fetching tank top, above.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like online purchasing is available in the US, so you'll have to venture out to one of their locations to get one. I, myself, will be attempting to buy some this weekend. I'll keep you posted...

If you want your Cannibal Fuckface collectible vinyl dolly to resemble the interior pages of the Prison Pit comics it springs from, good news: it's now available for pre-order in a black & white colorway from toy purveyors Monster Worship.

Meanwhile, at VICE, Johnny has a new comic which reveals the horrifying truth about the iPad.

Patch It Up with Quimby's and Chris Ware
Written by janice headley | Filed under merchfashionChris Ware 10 Oct 2011 3:04 PM

Got a hole in your jacket from that Chris Ware story that reached in, tore your heart out, and stomped it into the ground? (His writing, that is, not the man himself -- he's pretty laid-back.)

Patch it up with one of these rad new patches from our friends at Quimby's in Chicago!  Heat adhesive, four-color embroidered, and only five freakin' bucks.  Only available at the store for now, but they should be on sale on their website soon.
