The 2nd Annual Can't-Make-It-to-Comic-Con Sale!
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under sales specials 12 Jul 2012 1:30 AM

Comic-Non

Every year, on the last day of Comic-Con, as our thoughts turn to the arduous task of packing up all of our leftover books for shipping back to our warehouse, desperation creeps in and the discounts start flying left and right. Last year we decided to spread this fun to our mail-order customers and this year we're doing it again! We are not only offering 20% OFF EVERYTHING on our website — use coupon code FANTACON12 at checkout — but a whopping 50% OFF ALL our biggest and heaviest books (see them all here — note that items are discounted 40%, which works out to 50% when the coupon discount is applied) during the convention, from Thursday, July 12 (that's today!) through Sunday, July 15 — and you won't even have to lug them around the convention center or cram them into your suitcase and throw out your back hefting them into the overhead bin (or risk your airline losing them)!

PLEASE NOTE: Since we are shorthanded at our HQ (uh, due to staff being, like, at Comic-Con), and due to the high expected volume of orders, we won't be able to process and ship orders until next week. Please keep this in mind when choosing your shipping option!

Usagi Yojimbo: The Special Edition - half-price dent-and-ding copies available
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under Usagi YojimboStan Sakaisales specials 18 Apr 2012 8:35 PM

Usagi Yojimbo: The Special Edition

Usagi Yojimbo: The Special Edition, the deluxe, slipcased two-volume hardcover set collecting the complete first decade of Stan Sakai's long-running, beloved series, with bonus materials including a color cover gallery, a career-spanning interview and more, has sold through its print run and is now a collectible. However! We have received a small shipment of dent-and-ding copies returned from the distributor, so if you don't mind a slipcase with a bonked corner or other superficial damage and you love bargains, good news because you can buy one of them for $50 — that's half price — from our mail-order department or from the fabled back room at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery. Fifty bucks for 1,160 pages of top-notch comics and fascinating bonus features is a heck of a deal, and we don't imagine these will last long, so don't delay!

April Is Double-MINI Month at Fantagraphics!
Written by Kim Thompson | Filed under sales specialsFBI MINIs 3 Apr 2012 1:00 AM

FBI•MINIs
(a partial assortment)

Last November, we introduced one of our most successful and acclaimed promotions ever: The FBI•MINI project, a series of mini-books exclusively available as premiums via Fantagraphics mail-order. Customers could secure these coveted collectibles either by ordering (or pre-ordering) specific books that went along with the FBI•MINIs, or just placing a general order (for $50 or more). We got in so many orders for FBI•MINIs (close to a thousand!) that we had trouble keeping up with demand!

The FBI•MINIs include first-time-in-English comics by Joost Swarte, David B., Raymond Macherot, and Jacques Tardi (the legendary, 21-page, never-completed Manchette collaboration FATALE); otherwise out-of-print early obscurities by the Hernandez Brothers, Peter Bagge, Bill Griffith, and Stan Sakai; some fantastic sketchbook material by Johnny Ryan, Jim Woodring, Stephen DeStefano, and Kim Deitch; as well as such oddities as a vintage 1938 POPEYE sequence by Segar's assistant, a collection of full-color Richard Sala horror portraits, a facsimile GIL JORDAN page by Maurice Tillieux in full color, Tony Millionaire's hilarious illustrated rant about a failed TV submission, a never-printed Joe Sacco comic strip/book report, and Ivan Brunetti's legendary NANCY try-out strips... and more. Go here for a complete list!

For the month of April we're "doubling down" with this promotion: If you place an order that qualifies you for one of the FBI•MINI's (by ordering one of the qualifying books, or ANYTHING of $50 or more), add a second FBI•MINI to your order. And if your order is $100 or more, you can order FOUR FBI•MINIs... and so on! If ordering by phone or mail, order the FBI•MINIs as you would any other item; if ordering online, list them in the "comments" section.

This special deal will be in effect throughout the rest of April 2012. Place your order today!

Folks have been clamoring for The Girl from H.O.P.P.E.R.S., the second trade paperback collection of Jaime Hernandez 's complete "Locas" stories from Love and Rockets Vol. 1, which is out of print (for now). We have a load of slightly damaged copies sitting in storage, so we're now making them available for our mailorder customers at half cover price! These aren't too torn up — just some light dings and scuffs from transit, storage and handling — so if you're not too concerned with the condition of the book and just want a readable copy, and/or you love bargains, it's your lucky day!
