Fantagraphics Books Spring/Summer 2012 catalog

Members of the press are currently receiving our Spring/Summer 2012 distributor's catalog, with all of our releases slated to hit the book market from April through August of next year (in other words, everything but pamphlet comics) — but why should they have all the fun? Download your very own PDF of the catalog (11.9 MB) to get all the scoop on (spoiler alert)...

• Highly anticipated and much-demanded projects like Significant Objects, Sexytime, Barnaby, Gary Panter's Dal Tokyo, the Mort Meskin collection Out of the Shadows, Malcolm McNeill's Ah Pook art book and accompanying memoir of working with William S. Burroughs, our first two EC Comics collections, Basil Wolverton's Spacehawk, and George Herriman's Stumble Inn

• New collections from Josh Simmons, Gilbert Hernandez (Venus!), Jaime Hernandez (the Ti-Girls!), and Tom Kaczynski

• European greats like Nicolas Mahler, Jacques Tardi, Gabriella Giandelli, cover star Guy Peellaert (with the previously-announced The Adventures of Jodelle), Lorenzo Mattotti, Ulli Lust, and the Kolor Klimax Nordic comics anthology

• More translated manga masterpieces from Shimura Takako (more Wandering Son) and Moto Hagio (the previously-announced The Heart of Thomas)

• New volumes of The Complete Peanuts, Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse, Captain Easy, The Carl Barks Library (Unca Scrooge!), Joe Daly's Dungeon Quest and Carol Tyler's You'll Never Know

• Works of comics history and scholarship from Fredrik Strömberg and Blake Bell

• Softcover editions of our acclaimed fiction tomes from Stephen Dixon and Alexander Theroux

• New editions of classics like Drew Friedman's Any Similarity to Persons Living or Dead Is Purely Coincidental, The Complete Crumb Comics Vol. 1 (expanded with never-before-published art!), and Crumb's Your Vigor for Life Appalls Me

We say this every time, but man oh man, what a season! Joshua Glenn of Hilobrow (who, full disclosure, is co-editor of Significant Objects), says this about the new catalog: "The great news is that Fantagraphics keeps getting better. I am utterly blown away by the nature and quality of the books they’re publishing. Look at their author list — it’s second only to the Dalkey Archive’s.... I want to retreat to a cave and spend the winter doing nothing but reading Fantagraphics titles. I need a grant. Fantagraphics is a national treasure, providing a much-needed poke in the eye for this country’s middlebrow and lamestream culture. Long may they thrive." Thanks Joshua!
