Gahan Wilson: Fifty Years of Playboy Cartoons BLAD
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under previewsGahan Wilson 17 Jun 2009 1:11 PM

Fantagraphics is pleased to present to the public our BLAD for Gahan Wilson: Fifty Years of Playboy Cartoons, our 3-volume, 1000+-page slipcased hardcover set collecting half a century's work by the macabre master, due this October. (BLAD is the appropriately vampiric-sounding acronym for Book Layout and Design, a promotional piece made for the book trade which showcases upcoming books.) Click each page for larger, higher-res versions, which include specs, production details, excerpts from the introductions by Neil Gaiman and Hugh Hefner, and, of course, samples of the unparallelled artwork collected in the book.

But am I the only one who is confused by this... sausage thingy on the left of the BLAD´s cover?

Christian,

It's a bone saw. Out of context of the book's layout as a whole I worry that it is, indeed, a bit confusing.

Eric E, it should be about a month or so before we have both editions available for pre-order direct from us. We'll have it available online and at our Seattle store (once it arrives). If you're getting the deluxe edition through your local shop you might need to have them make a special order through our distributors.
