Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant is one of the most magnificent adventure comics ever and Fantagraphics’ reprinting is the loveliest treatment of the strip in the history of publishing. Despite being one of our most popular series, we have never produced a holiday gift box set until now, and this deluxe package includes the first three volumes of the series, collecting the first six years of Foster’s run, from 1937 through 1942!
Vol. 1 kicks off the origins of our young, valiant hero!
In Vol. 2, Prince Valiant helps his father reclaim his throne in the kingdom of Thule, fights alongside King Arthur, and is made a knight of the Round Table in recompense for his bravery and wit. Bored by the peace he helped to create, Val decides to do battle with the Huns, whose forces are descending on Southern Europe.
Vol. 3 features an epic entitled "Fights for the Singing Sword," a globetrotting adventure fueled by Valiant's obsessive search for his bride-to-be Aleta throughout Northern Africa, with stops in Jerusalem, the Arabic deserts, and, inevitably, a harem which Val must infiltrate.
