Among the underground comix generation, Manuel "Spain" Rodriguez was a Marxist revolutionary, a motorcycle-riding outlaw, and a macho feminist—but, most of all, he was a dedicated cartoonist. Spain brought a rough-and-tumble reality and fascist-bashing science fiction to the esrly countercuture newspapers of the 1960s and '70s, all the way to formative comics publications like Zap Comix, Weirdo, and Heavy Metal.

Fantagraphics is proud to present Spain, five volumes collecting the best work of the legendary cartoonist's 40+ year career. This retrospective is rounded out with never-before-seen photographs, artwork, and biographical pieces by comics scholar Patrick Rosenkranz (Rebel Visions).
