Scott Camil (b. 1946) is a Vietnam veteran known worldwide for his anti-war and environmental activism. He made a name for himself as an outspoken participant in the boldly anti-war Winter Soldier Investigation in 1971 (and appeared in the 1972 documentary Winter Soldier), and subsequently joined the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and became a leader within the organization. Since 1987, Camil has been President of the Gainesville Chapter of the Veterans for Peace. Also notable for his environmental activism, Camil serves as Political Chair of the Suwannee St-Johns Sierra Club and founded Stand By Our Plan, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting wetlands from commercial development. He lives in Gainesville, Florida, with his wife.
