Collection: Zap Comix

Spanning 17 issues over 46 years, Zap Comix is known as the archetypal comic series that defined the underground comix scene of the 1960s and ’70s. Premiering in early 1968 as a showcase for the work of Robert Crumb, Zap was marked by a freewheeling nature that broadened the possibilities of what comics could express. After the success of the first issue, Crumb opened the pages of Zap to several other artists, including S. Clay Wilson, Robert Williams, Spain Rodriguez, Gilbert Shelton, and two artists with reputations as psychedelic poster designers, Victor Moscoso, and Rick Griffin. Together, this group created an iconic masterpiece of the counterculture.
